In a small glass bowl, add the dates and boiling water. Let soak for a minute or two to soften the dates. Drain the dates, reserving the liquid.
Drain the black beans and add them to a food processor fitted with the S blade.

Add the dates, almond butter, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt. Blend until a smooth batter forms, scraping down the sides of the food processor as necessary.


Add the chocolate chips, if using, and pulse a few times to blend.
