Reminiscent of a Snickers candy bar, this healthier version uses much less sugar and supplies more fiber! This homemade candy bar is simple to prepare and is gluten free and Vegan. It tastes so amazing and my family loves it when I make this treat.
This easy-to-make chocolate candy bar will satisfy cravings for regular candy bars. When I was in high school, I played on my school’s basketball and volleyball teams. My regular after game snack was a candy bar and I didn’t think anything of it. They tasted good after I worked so hard in the games. But, of course, now I know that eating so much sugar was hard on my body then and is even worse for me now. I know what it is like to dream about eating the candy bars like I did when I was younger. But, now they aren’t good for me and they don’t make me feel good. I love this recipe because I get to enjoy the flavors that I love and crave!
How to Make Chocolate Almond Date Candy Bar
Equipment Needed:
Small Saucepan or Double Boiler
Instructions:
Using your hands, open up a Medjool date and place it face down on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper. Repeat with the remainder of the dates placing them close together to form a base.

Spread parchment paper over the dates. Using a rolling pin or the bottom of a pan, smash the dates so they connect together as much as possible.

Remove the top parchment paper layer and then spread the almond butter evenly on top of the dates. Add more as needed to cover the dates. Reserve 2 Tablespoons for the chocolate layer.

Chop the roasted almonds and spread them evenly over the almond butter layer.

In a double boiler or a small saucepan over low heat, add the chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of almond butter. Stir frequently until all of the chocolate chips are melted and the mixture is smooth.
Spread the chocolate over the almond butter and chopped almonds forming a thin layer. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt if desired.

Place in the fridge or freezer until the chocolate hardens, about 20 minutes. Serve cold or at room temperature and enjoy!!
